The Araluen Arts Centre operates as the visual art and performance hub of Central Australia, presenting an annual program of exhibitions, performances, and film. Known as the keeping place of stories, Araluen holds within its spaces some of the most significant works of art in Central Australia and brings to the stage world class performances from around the nation (and at times the world).

Built around a culturally significant 300 year old corkwood tree that now sits in the centre of the Sculpture Garden, the Araluen Arts Centre is the heart of the Araluen Cultural Precinct, which includes the Galleries and Theatre, the Museum of Central Australia including the Strehlow Research Centre, the Central Australian Aviation Museum, Central Craft, Yaye’s Café, and a host of significant public works of art and Arrernte sacred sites.

Nestled between the MacDonnell Ranges and Todd Riverbed, ASPCC is only 1.8 kilometres from the town’s CBD. One of the attractions of Alice Springs is that it is almost equidistant from every capital city in Australia and the Convention Centre is a convenient 10-kilometre ride from the airport.

The ASPCC is a dedicated Convention Centre and while its contemporary architecture reflects the colours of the Red Centre and the rustic appeal of outback Australia, don’t be fooled this facility is equipped with state of the art technology, best practice environmental controls and excellent quality service delivery.

 Cancellation Policy

Delegates who find themselves unable to attend the Australian Museums and Galleries Association National Conference 2019 after submitting their online registration are most welcome to nominate a substitute. All substitutions and cancellations must be made by email to mga@conlog.com.au.

Cancellations received before / on Friday 12 April 2019 will be refunded, less an administration fee of $99. Cancellations received after Friday 12 April 2019 are not refundable. Exceptions are at the discretion of the Organising Committee.

All hotel booking cancellations MUST be made in writing to mga@conlog.com.au. Cancellations received after Friday 12 April 2019 will be charged by the hotel according to their cancellation policy.

 

 Payment of Fees

All conference and function payments must be received prior to the conference.

 

 Insurance

Registration fees do not include insurance of any kind. It is strongly recommended that participants take out their own general travel insurance. It is suggested that the insurance policy should also cover loss of fees/deposit, airfares, accommodation charges, medical expenses, loss or damage to personal property and repatriation expenses. The organisers do not take responsibility for any delegate failing to insure.

 

 Privacy

A list of participants will be produced which includes individuals’ details such as name, organisation, state and Twitter handle. You will be asked for permission for your details to be included when you register.

 

 Disclaimer

The conference registration information is correct at the time of publishing. However, the organisers reserve the right to change the information where necessary without notice.

In the event of industrial disruptions, the conference and the organisers accept no responsibility.

 

 Dress

Recommended dress for the conference is smart casual for all conference sessions and social functions.

 

 Catering and Dietary Requirements

Morning and afternoon teas and lunches will be provided in the foyer of the Araluen Arts Centre, and amongst the exhibition at the ASPCC. If you have not already notified Conference Logistics of any special dietary requirements (eg. vegetarian), please do so as soon as possible by emailing mga@conlog.com.au.

Dietary requests will be catered for to the best of the venue’s ability. Individuals with severe allergies are requested to advise Conference Logistics of their requirements prior to the conference, and bring any allergy medication (EpiPen, Phenergan, etc.) as prescribed by your doctor to the conference and any associated function. Whilst due care is taken by the organisers and venue, individuals must take primary responsibility for their own health.

 

 No Smoking Policy

All the rooms and event spaces for AMaGA2019 are non-smoking.

 

 Access Requirements

 Visa Applications

All visitors to Australia (except for New Zealand passport holders) must have a valid visa. Please refer to the following documents for more information:

It is suggested that all visitors should apply for a visa at least two months prior to their intended date of departure, and four months prior for people with character or health concerns.
